I was one of Chip's "kids"，a "scratch and dent kid"，but all his kids，regardless of the "type"，received the same wisdom，love，comfort and attention.My story is just one of hundreds of examples of Chip's influence on his students.
Twenty-seven years ago，when I entered Wellesley College，I was an immature athlete and lacked self-confidence.By the time I graduated，I was full of self-confidence — and as a result，probably a much better person.I owe much of my growth to Chip and his devotion to me and the other kids.
How did that happen？One part was athletics.The legend （传奇） of Chip's basketball team of the 1990s is the story of a team that during the 1989-1990 season experienced two wins and twenty losses.Just two years later，thanks in large part to Chip's encouragement and faith in our ability，we won an influential championship，and our record for the year was twenty-four wins and just two losses.
