2．I was in K-Mart．I had made an agreement with my grandchildren that every time I yelled at them，I'd buy them a gift costing at least ＄5．

"Would you like to know what really happened？" I asked one of the officers．
"We already have the facts from the woman who was assaulted．"
"Do you want the true facts？"
"I think you had best move on down the road．"
Looking at the man，I yelled out， "When this is over，you sue （起诉） these men．I'm sure the entire incident is on video somewhere．"
The police car stopped．The officer got out of the vehicle．
"What's your version？" he asked me．
In less than three minutes，I told the officer what had really happened．
The police officer returned to his car and began talking with the other officer．The two of them opened their doors，took the man out of the car，and took off the handcuffs．They drove away．
"Well，this has been quite a day，" said the man．
I shook the man's hand．I said， "I want to go home now and write about what happened here．The ending is going to say that I shook the hand of a man who was a complete gentleman throughout a very trying situation．"
He replied， "Actually，I am a Captain in the Army，stationed at Fort Hood Texas．"

All their business models revolve around one simple word：trust．So，how does Stashbee measure up？BBC journalist Dougal Shaw decided to try it out for himself．He had some odds and ends to store while renovating his house，and met a host through the site who could keep them for 475 RMB for two months．All relatively smooth and painless．
Heavyweights（行业巨头）in the traditional storage industry，such as Big Yenow and Access，aren't convinced．A representative from Access told Shaw he was skeptical about storing with"amateurs"．He considered 24/7（全天候）access to the items and better security as the main advantages of his service．
Stashbee agree that dealing with security concerns is important，but say business success depends more on people overcoming a distrust of strangers we've been taught since childhood．They aren't alone．Companies such as Costockage，Roost and Spacer all run similar storage businesses，and are all relying on a shift in consumer attitudes．
And the concept of social storage doesn't stop there．CityStasher believe there's a gap in the market for those who want to store things for extremely short periods of time．

4．Six-month-old babies are strictly limited in what they can remember about the objects they see in the world．If you hide several objects from babies，they will only remember one of those objects．But a new study，which was published in an issue of Psychological Science，a journal of the Association for Psychological Science，finds that when babies"forget"about an object，not all is lost．Researchers used to think that babies less than two years old did not understand that an object continues to exist when it is not in the baby's view．But in mid-1980s，new ways of doing experiments with babies found that they do，in fact，know that objects don't disappear when they do not look at them--a concept known as object permanence．But it was still unknown what babies needed to remember about objects in order to remember their existence．
Now Melissa Kibbe，of John Hopkins University，and Alan Leslie，of Rutgers University，are working to figure out exactly what it is that babies remember about objects．For the new study，they showed six-month-old babies two objects，a disk and a triangle．Then they hid the objects behind small screens，first one shape，then the other．Earlier research has shown that young babies can remember what was hidden most recently，but have more trouble remembering the first object that was hidden．Once the shapes were hidden，they lifted the screen in front of the first object．Sometimes they showed babies the shape that was hidden there originally，but sometimes it was the other shape，and sometimes the object had vanished completely．
Psychologists （心理学家） measure how long babies look at something to see how surprised they are．In Kibbe and Leslie's study，babies weren't particularly surprised to see that screen had changed，for example，from a triangle to a disk．But if the object was gone altogether，the babies looked significantly longer，indicating surprise at an unexpected result："This shows that even though babies don't remember the shape of the object，they know that it should continue to exist，"Kibbe says．"They remember the object without remembering the features that identify（鉴别） that object．"
