29． Brian Williams left the house with a lunchbox full of food every day.His mom enjoyed preparing home-made meals for him，believing home-cooked food was much healthier than the food in the school cafeteria.
Every time Brian went home from school，his lunchbox would be empty.Mrs.Williams was pleased，thinking Brian enjoyed the meals prepared for him.However，she wondered why he would head straight to the kitchen to pounce （猛扑） on more food every afternoon.
"You're such a growing boy，huh？Go ahead and cat，" Mrs.Williams once said，patting his head as he ate the snack she had prepared.Brian nodded silently as he continued to devour （吞食） his food.
Little did Mrs.Williams know that Brian had been going to school without food.His classmates would play jokes on him，thinking he didn't have enough money for paid meals at the cafeteria.Brian paid no attention to them.Instead，he hid in the playground while everyone ate their meals in the classroom or cafeteria.He would sit on the swings alone，waiting for the bell to ring for their next class.
Soon，his teachers got concerned about all the teasing Brian received from his classmates and they wondered why he had never eaten anything during the lunch break.They knew he came from a well-off family and that he would have been given money to buy food at the cafeteria if he had not brought home-made lunch.
Whenever they asked him where his food was，he'd make excuses—he left his lunch at home，he wasn't hungry，or he ate before lunchtime.But his teachers weren't convinced，so they decided to give Brian's mom a call. "Brian hasn't been eating.Mrs.Williams，" a teacher revealed. "He gives us excuses every day about why he doesn't have lunch with him."
"But that's impossible!" Mrs.Williams shouted. "He leaves with his lunchbox every day and I make sure that his lunchbox is filled.Where does the food go？" she said，surprised.
