19．Mrs.Bobbin，the dressmaker，was tired and had a bad headache，but she still managed to sew the last stitches in the gown（礼服裙）she was making.

But Irene insisted.She coaxed her mother into bed，covered her with two quilts.Then with great care，Irene packed the splendid gown in a big box with plenty of tissue paper.She kissed her mother's hot forehead and slipped out with the big box，shutting the door firmly behind her.
It really was cold outside，very cold.The wind whirled the falling snow-flakes about.It blew so rudely that she could hardly move ahead.Cold snow sifted into her boots and chilled her feet.She pushed out her lip and hurried on.This was an important task.
"Take it easy!"she told herself，leaning back hard against the wind.
"Go home!"the wind shouted."Irene...go hooome..."
"I will do no such thing，"she snapped."No such thing，you wicked wind!The gown had to get to the duchess!"She went shuffling through the snow.
"Go ho-o-ome，"the wind screamed.
"GO HO-WO-WOME，"it shrieked，"or else..."
The wind decided to put on a show.It wrestled her for the package—walloped it，twisted it，shook it，snatched at it.
But Irene wouldn't give up."It's my mother's work!"she screamed.She took hold of the box tightly.
