一、阅读理解(共4小题;每小题6分,满分32分)

  • 1.Nowadays,we are having a much busier life, and we are using our eyes far more than ever before. So we often have tired eyes after a day's work or study. Here are some good methods of protecting eyes against tiredness to keep them healthy.
    Posture(坐姿)
Get into the habit of paying attention to the way you sit.Try to stick to the proper postures that doctors suggest.
    Helpful pictures
There are some special pictures online that can help relax your eyes. You may download such pictures to your computer or smartphone. When there is nothing far away you can look at to relax your eyes, you can use one of these pictures.A picture with something like a tunnel(隧道)in it is quite popular.Try to look as far into the tunnel as you can for 30 seconds(秒).Do you feel better?
    Breaks
The 20-20-20 rule:take a break from the screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds and look at something 20 feet (about 6 metres) away.
    Eye exercises
Step 1.Sitting comfortably, imagine there is a clock in front of you and turn your eyes up to 12 o'clock.Pause(停顿)for a second, and then lower your eyes to 6 o'clock.Pause again, and then repeat this step 10 times.Complete the exercise by cupping your hands over your eyes for a few seconds, letting them rest in the darkness.
Step 2.Look at something on the right.Keep your eyes on it and slowly turn your head to the left as far as possible. Then do the same thing on the left.Repeat the exercise a couple of times.
Step 3.Hold your finger in front of your nose and keep looking at it.Slowly move the finger towards yourself as close as you can without losing focus(焦点).Then look outside the window as far as possible.Repeat this several times.
    Sports
Table tennis is about a small ball travelling at high speed—the best sport to train your eyes and relax the muscles(肌肉)in and around the eyes.Other sports like tennis, badminton and kite flying are also great for relaxing tired eyes.

    组卷:13引用:2难度:0.5
  • 2.I suspect that we socialize more during the spring and summer months.Under the warm sun, yards bloom with cold drinks and conversation, barbecues get fired up,and parties quickly spill outside.Shifting these sweet summer parties to ones that are also waste-free can be both simple and inexpensive, with just a few small changes to your habits.
The first step is to keep invitations virtual.Creating a Facebook event or sending a simple email is perfect for inviting guests to your party without generating waste from paper invitations, and if you're looking for something a bit more formal, sites such as Greenvelope and Paperless Post have given the cheesy e-invitation a brilliant makeover.Virtual invites also allow you to track RSVPs,communicate with guests, and provide clickable information about your event.
To decorate, make use of the candles, flowers and greenery already in your outdoor space rather than stocking up on store-bought flowers, and consider using decorations that can be reused (like a cloth happy birthday banner, for example) rather than one-time use decorations.Skip the balloons in favour of large tissue paper pom-poms,and offer up any decorations still in decent condition to a free group after the event rather than just tossing them out.
The most obvious way to cut down on party waste,of course,is by getting rid of disposable plates, cups and things like that.I shouldn't have to do much convincing in this department – does anyone actually enjoy using those paper plates that fold in half when you pile them high with too much salad or drip oil through the bottom?Has anyone in the history of the world ever actually successfully cut anything with one of those completely useless plastic knives? There really isn't much to be gained from using disposables.
With these shifts and a few other small adjustments here and there – paper straws instead of plastic,a large drink dispenser(饮水器) rather than individual soft drinks or juice boxes – you'll be set to celebrate all summer long, without suffering the accompanying garbage hangover the next day.

(1)What does the underlined word "cheesy" in the second paragraph mean?

    A.Free.
    B.Formal.
    C.Plain.
    D.Inviting.
(2)What should we do with used decorations in good condition?

    A.Donate them.
    B.Sell them.
    C.Put them away.
    D.Throw them away.
(3)Why does the writer dislike paper plates?

    A.They're too expensive.
    B.They're not practical.
    C.They're not convincing.
    D.They're not popular.
(4)Which is the best title for the passage?

A.How to hold a successful garden party.
    B.Summer garden party habits.
C.How to hold greener summer parties.
    D.How to entertain your guests.

  • 3.The hike to the lost Incan city of Choquequirao is one of the most difficult in Peru. From the town of Cachora, which is 161km west of Cusco,it's an 18km walk to Capuliyoc Mountain, then down to Playa Rosalina, where travellers camp for the night.Waking early, travellers then have to cross the Apurímac River and walk uphill to camp close to the ruins. Then, the next morning,it's another 2km walk up to the ruins,3,100 m above sea level. To get back?Well,it's the same way you came.
"I've had people in their 60s and 70s do it," said Juan Barrios,a guide from the Adventure Life company. "But some people come out thinking that because it's only 28km from the drop off they can do it in a day.Six or seven days for the hike is best."
It makes sense, then, that Choquequirao draws only about 30 people a day during the high season(June through August).Compare that to the 2,500 people who arrive each day at the famous Incan city of Machu Picchu.
But for those who make the journey, the rewards(回报)are great:beautiful mountain views at every turn, and the chance to explore the wonderful ruins nearly alone.
Believed to be created around the same time as Machu Picchu,in 1445,Choquequirao is actually larger than better-known Machu Picchu. But very little has been written about Peru's other lost city and researchers are still uncovering new parts of the ruins, leaving life on the mountain relatively untouched.
But officials say that the building of the first cable car(缆车)to Choquequirao will shorten the several-day walk to a 15-minute cable car ride.As a result, the number of travellers that now make the journey each week could turn into 3,000 visitors per day.
Choquequirao is beautiful now because of how untouched it is.Even though the lost city was discovered by Spanish explorer Juan Arias Díaz in 1710,the ruins still make you feel as though you're the first to find them. Will it be the same when more travellers flood in (大量涌入)?

(1)What does the first paragraph centre on?

    A.How tall Choquequirao is.
B.How to get to Choquequirao easily.
    C.What great views Choquequirao has.
D.How hard the trip to Choquequirao is.
(2)In what way is Choquequirao different from Machu Picchu?

    A.Choquequirao is older.
    B.Choquequirao is quieter.
    C.Choquequirao is smaller.
    D.Choquequirao is better known.
(3)How are the ruins of Choquequirao?

    A.They're still being dug out.
B.They're in a generally poor condition.
C.They're being renewed at the moment.
    D.They've been researched internationally.
(4)What does the author think of Choquequirao in the future?

    A.It will be more attractive.
B.It will develop at a slow speed.
C.It won't necessarily take a turn for the better.
D.It won't be more popular than Machu Picchu.
