  Many cultures have traditions to scare off bad lucks when people celebrate the New Year，which involves using fireworks，like in China．But there are other ways which people do it．In Scotland，for example people had the tradition of bon fire celebrations over the past few decades．Men from villages walk through the streets with giant fireballs holding over their heads．In Panama，bonfires are used to burning pictures of popular celebrities．Therefore，some traditions meant to avoid from misfortune do not involve in fire at all．For instance，people in Denmark find the highest surface they can and jump from itself．The hope is what they leave behind the bad spirits of the previously years and enter a New Year full of new beginnings．
