1.When I recently revealed to my friends, colleagues, and family members that I would be moving my family to Israel, the reactions were numerous and varied. Some people said it was an expected thing while others asked:Why now? What will you do?
For me,making the move to Israel is the fulfillment of a dream that has lasted for my 47 years of life.I have always known that Israel is my home.Over the years Israel has been in my heart, but I have found a number of reasons to put off making it my permanent residence:kids, the economy, education…you name an excuse, and at some point I have probably used it.
Truthfully,I believe that I was always just a little bit scared. And of course I still am,with the fear factor that is reported by the press surrounding the Israeli military and economy. However,it has come to the point when I have realized that for over 2000 years we have longed for this land, and that for 47 years I have denied the opportunity to make it my home.I am finally ready to fully grasp this opportunity.
Over the years,I have always loved visiting Israel.I have traveled there with my family, and enjoyed introducing thousands of travelers to the country.I have come to love all of these things about Israel as a tourist because I get to love my home. And as far as waiting for the "perfect" condition under which to make a decision,I believe the time is now!
I have been asked many times if I am nervous about moving to Israel. Before I answer,I remember that we have overcome the Greeks, the Romans, the Russian killings,Hitler and the Holocaust(大屠杀),and the armies of seven countries.
How can I not feel confident that I,and my family, will overcome any difficulty that may come our way?I am not worrying, complaining, crying,or fearing.I am proud and excited to say that I am fulfilling a 47-year-old dream:I am going home.

2.Kyle is my big brother. For eighteen years,I felt that Kyle was my enemy. In fact,I found it ridiculous that people thought older brothers looked out for their sisters, protected them and fought off their sisters' bullies (恃强凌弱者).Huh?My brother was the bully.
When we were little, his fights with others caused my black eye, cuts in my lips and even a nosebleed or two.I often wished I were an only child!
Time flew.We ended up attending colleges two thousand miles apart, yet, strangely, that's when we began communicating.Through e-mail,we kept in constant touch.Mostly I complained about serious homesickness, impossible roommates, difficult classes, and…dating.I felt I lost myself. At a particularly low time,I cried to Kyle about my injured confidence,my broken heart, and the particular jerk (蠢人) who broke it.
And that's when the package arrived.
"What's this?" I thought as I tore into it.The box revealed a sweatshirt. "Phi Delta Theta? That's Kyle's frat (兄弟会)." Kyle was the president of the frat house. Why would he send this?I put it aside and dug deeper.A pile of letters. And they were all addressed to me.I opened the one on top.
"Katrina," it said, "your brother showed me your picture and I think you're awesome and beautiful." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, sure." I opened another letter. And another.Eighteen in all.
Each one was from a different guy. They complimented (恭维) me.They invited me on dates. And they tried to convince me to make a trip out to Knox College and meet them.
I loved it.I didn't care about the motive. And mostly,I loved the idea that ray big brother had pulled it off.I picked up the phone.
"Kyle, the box came and I can't believe what you did." But Kyle wasn't accepting compliments. "Oh," he said, "I was just tired of reading your over-sensitive e-mails."
Big brothers,I decided, really did protect their sisters. And mine fought offthe biggest bully I'd ever met.Now I return to my true self, full of confidence.

3.Here's an idea whose time has come:A flu shot that doesn't require an actual shot.
For the first time, researchers have tested a flu vaccine patch (疫苗贴) in a human clinical trial and found that it delivered as much protection as a traditional injection with a needle.Doctors and public health experts have high hopes that it will increase the number of people who get immunized (免疫的) against the flu.
Seasonal flu is responsible for up to half a million deaths around the world each year according to the World Health Organization.A team led by Georgia Tech engineer Mark Prausnitz has come up with an alternative method that uses "microneedles".These tiny needles are so small that 100 of them, arranged in order on a patch, can fit under your thumb (拇指).Yet they're big enough to hold vaccine for three types of flu.
None of the study volunteers had serious side effects. The groups that got patches had mild skin reactions that were not seen in the regular needle group, while the volunteers in the regular needle group were more likely to experience pain.Overall,70 percent of the volunteers who got vaccine patches said they'd rather use them again than get a traditional flu shot. The study authors declared it a success on all fronts.
The biggest beneficiaries could be people in low-and-middle-income countries, where flu vaccines are hard to come by.Reducing pain is nice, but other benefits-the patch costs less,is easier to transport, doesn't require refrigeration, can be self-administered and doesn't cause waste of needles - are even better.
"Microneedle Patches have the potential to become ideal candidates for vaccination programs," wrote Katja Hoschler and Maria Zambon of Public Health England.

B.A clinical study that protects people from disease.

4.Spending money on time-saving services reduces stress and boosts(增进)happiness, according to a new research, but shockingly, few of us do it.
Whillans,a professor at HBS said, "Buying time helps to protect us from the stress in our lives caused by time pressure, and the feeling that we don't have enough minutes in the day to complete our tasks.
The effect was clearest in the Canadian experiment,in which 60 working adults were given $40 to spend in two different ways. One weekend, they were told to spend the money on a material purchase-a gift for themselves. The nest weekend, they were in structed to spend the$40 on anything that saved them time, from paying the neighbor's kid to run errands(跑腿)to taking an Uber instead of a bus.
"On the day they made the time-saving purchase, they felt happier,in a better mood, and lower feelings of time stress than on the day they bought a material purchase," said Whillans.
The biggest surprise to the researchers was how few people would spend money on time-saving services. When they asked 98 working adults how they would spend a "windfall"(意外之财)of $40,only two percent named a purchase that would save them time.
"One reason," said Whillans, "is that we're very bad at remembering how much we hate doing certain tasks once the suffering has passed. That makes us less likely to take active steps to avoid that overburdened feeling the future." But another possible cause is good old-fashioned guilt. "If you feel guilty about getting someone to clean your house for you, then you might get less happiness from outsourcing(外包)that task," said Whillans, "or you might just be less likely to spend your money in that way."
(1)In the Canadian experiment,the participants
A.were divided into two groups
B.were given$40 every two weeks
C.were asked to give money to a neighbor's kid
D.were asked to spend the money in different ways

A.Paying much for a concert ticket.
B.Taking a regular bus to get to work.
C.Employing someone to clean the garden.
D.Buying themselves an expensive present.
(3)When it comes to spending money on "buying time",
A.no people would like to do it
B.a small percentage of people chose to do it
C.more people will do it if extra money is given
D.most people like the idea but don't practice it in life
(4)What do the underlined words "that overburdened feeling" in Paragraph 6 refer to?
A.The good old-fashioned guilt.

5.There is a common saying in business psychology that high self-confidence is the key to career success.Well,it is time to examine this myth.(1)
If your confidence is low, rather than extremely low,you stand a better chance of succeeding than if you have high self-confidence.(2)
1.Lower self-confidence makes you pay attention to negative feedback and be self- critical. Most people get trapped in their optimistic ideas,so they tend to listen to positive feedback and ignore negative feedback. However, achievement is 10% performance and 90% preparation.(3)
Indeed, success is the best medicine for your insecurities.
2.Lower self-confidence can motivate you to work harder and prepare more.If you are serious about your goals, you will have more motivation to work hard when you lack confidence in your abilities. In fact, low confidence is only demotivating when you are not serious about your goals. If you really want to achieve your goal, then, your low confidence will only make you work harder to achieve it-because it will indicate a gap between your desired goal and your current state.
