      As a deadly and historic snowstorm hit Erie County，New York on December 23，2022，some residents found themselves in a dangerous situation—trapped in a snowstorm with nowhere to go，their cars gradually falling short of gas supply with the police unable to come to the rescue.
      Among those trapped last Friday was Jay Withey，who had risked his life to go out and help a trapped friend，but instead got caught in the snow himself.
      His adventure began at 6 pm when he got a call from a friend who had become stuck in the quickly mounting snow.Without hesitation，Jay drove toward his friend，avoiding abandoned vehicles that littered the road.Suddenly，he saw a young man named Mike walking in the storm.He told Mike to get in the truck to escape the cold.
      As he drove past snow piles several feet tall，his truck became stuck twice.The first time，he was able to clear his way out，but the second time he felt hopeless."I'm trying to dig myself out，but the snow is coming down just as fast as I'm digging，"he said.With his clothes becoming wet and only a little fuel left，Jay started to grow concerned.So he called the police but was told that they couldn't come to rescue him due to the dangerous storm conditions.He also learned that the friend who had called him for help had been rescued by authorities.
      Feeling tired，Jay decided he should.jye.ai and get some sleep.As he was sleeping，a woman named Mary knocked on the window of his truck.Without a second thought，Jay told her to get in his truck.The three of them tried to conserve fuel by turning the truck on and off all night.
      By morning，the truck was out of fuel，and they had to use the restroom.Jay knew he had to do something.He checked the GPS on his phone and noticed a nearby school.He knew there would at least be shelter，heat，bathrooms，and maybe even food.So they made their way there in no time.
